With the completion of the railway electrification and double-tracking from Padang Besar to Gemas , the ETS has been extended to the rest of the electrified line, offering fast connection between destinations with travel time comparable to or even faster than a bus. The southern unelectrified line between Gemas and Johor Bahru is still served by diesel trains with only 2nd class seats.
